Dell beats HP to become the ace brand of PCs and laptops in India

HP has always maintained its No.1 position for PC sales in India but now Dell over takes HP and becomes the top seller of computers across the country. Dell sold around 3.53 lakh PCs in the June quarter compared to 3.31 lakh by HP. HP had fell behind Dell in the notebook sales department as well. According to a report, Dell now has a market share of 14.3 percent in the overall PC market last quarter, followed by HP with 13.4 percent and Acer with 11 percent in India. Initially Dell was using a Direct To Home method of selling its products but later on it introduced its PCs and laptops in stores as well. However globally, HP still leads the league of brands. Until 2006, Dell was the world’s no.1 PC maker until HP overtook it.
